How long would it take to die also?

Type 2 is a condition, and you must take ir very seriously. Diabetes (type 1 or 2) affects everything in your body. Long term, if you’re not careful, you can eventually go blind. You can suffer amputations (toes, whole feet and even the leg up to the knee. Cardiac complications, the list never ends. You do what you must to try to delay the inevitable….

what is the different of treatment between diabetes mellitus type 1 and 2?

Diabetes Treatment Guidelines 2 Comments »

pharmacology and non-pharmacology… thanks…

Diabetes 1 your body produces no insulin and you must take insulin to keep your blood sugar under control (diet, excercise and oral hypoglycemics will sometimes be given to help control sugars).

Diabetes 2 your body does not produce enough insulin so treatment is aimed at helping your body control sugar … start by controlling diet, then add oral hypoglycemics (metformin, glyburide, avandia etc…) and insulin only if necessary.

HbAic test to see wether treatment is helping with longterm sugar control.

Hope this helps,

C

Complications in diabetes treatment?

Diabetes Treatment Guidelines 2 Comments »

1.
"Even with successful treatment, diabetes survivors are at risk of serious complications, such as CV disease, kidney failure, and blindness"

2.
"Truly successful treatment minimizes complications by narrowing the gap between a healthy glucose homeostasis pattern and that derived from therapeutic treatment"
-Matching basal and post-prandial glucose and insulin levels to those of healthy individuals.
-Individuals have different levels of dysfunction.

What’s the second point trying to say?
And what’s it mean by basal and post-pranial glucose/insulin levels?

The 2nd to me is saying that Diabetics if they follow the patterns of a healthy Ind. glucose pattern, on what the Non-Diabetics blood glucose levels are before a meal, after a meal, while sleeping, etc. they will have less health problems.

Basal rate, as it relates to Diabetics is calculated by how much insulin a normal pancreas secretes to keep a persons blood sugars in normal range or in a Diabetics case with the help of an insulin pump; it allows a Diabetic (insulin dependent) to set the appropriate basal rate or amount of insulin to pump every hour to maintain their blood glucose levels to the similar levels of a non-diabetic (ex. 0.65 per hour basal rate)

Post-prandial not 100% sure but have a strong feeling it means After Eating glucose levels which should be checked two hours after eating to ensure that your basal rate or as I call it fasting (no food) glucose level versus what my blood sugar is after I eat. Which determines if a Diabetic is taking to little or too much insulin over a period of time and if monitored closely a Diabetic can come close to the blood sugar levels of a non-diabetics basal and post prandial glucose levels and in the end have fewer complications.

Hope this helps a little, even I got a bit confused by this wording and pretty knowledgable about diabeties treatment and slang.

Is there a treatment for diabetes 1?

My daughter recently was admitted to the hospital ,and doctor told me that she was diagonized with Diabetes 1 , so i was wondering if there is any treatment that can cure my daughter? thank you.
My daughter is 7 years old

Diabetes 1 results from the inability of the body to produce insulin. Insulin is necessary for the body to be able to use and regulate sugar. Unfortunately, there’s no cure for diabetes 1. However, the treatment available today is great, and prognosis for people living with Diabetes 1 is very positive. Diabetes 1 is serious, but people with diabetes can live long, healthy, happy lives. What is the best treatment of blurring of vision. I suspect diabetes.?

What is the best treatment of blurring of vision in a natural way or by healthy foods which i suspect maybe of diabetes. Because my parents are diabetics.

See your doctor for blood testing. You need to have the HbA1c and a few other tests run to make sure what is the problem.

My opthamologist will not prescribe me new glasses Rx without knowing that I have gained and maintain control of my glucose levels. He says it is a waste of his resources and my money.

Anyone diagnosed with diabetes at 40? What type of treatment did you or the person you know receive?

I have started urinating frequently and am going to go in for blood work to test for diabetes. I am wondering if anyone else was diagosed at 40 and what was the treatment? If it’s caught early can it be controlled with diet? Thanks

Its possible to control it with diet and exercise IF its not too severe and IF you are diligent.

However, down the road, you will probably need insulin, because this is a progressive disease, meaning it gets worse as you age.

If you are at the point of frequent urination you are probably already past the point of controlling it with diet and exercise alone.

Diabetes is a silent disease. It creeps up on your over a period of years, and by the time you actually have symptoms its done some damage to your body. Most people have it for at least 8 years before they notice frequent urination and thirst and get tested.

At this point its far more important to get it under control than to try to avoid insulin.

Your doctor will most likely prescribe metformin, an oral medication, in a low dose to start with, which he will ramp up over the next few months until you get good readings on your blood sugar meter.

If the metformin isn’t enough on its own, then he’ll start you on insulin as well.
