I made a donation online to the American Diabetes Association during their Tour de Cure 2009 event. I printed out a confirmation at time time and I still have that. Are they supposed to provide me a more formal receipt for filing my tax return, or is the confirmation sufficient as proof? The confirmation does have the date, amount, tracking code and ADA’s tax ID.

The online confirmation is sufficient to claim the amount paid as an itemized charitable deduction.
